Ganderbal: Kashmir’s last hamlet, Sarbal village is making its own identity in Ganderbal district for the cultivation of potatoes and other edible vegetables.
This village is the lone area in Ganderbal which cultivates the best quality of potatoes and other edible vegetables.
Not only are potatoes cultivated in Sarbal but this is the village which is also known as a tourist attraction.
The people of Sarbal village only stay here for three to five months and as winter begins they return back to their native areas like Gagaangir, Ganiwan, Kangan because it is impossible for them to stay here due to heavy snowfall.
Local village head, Abdul Rasheed Lone told Rising Kashmir that this village is also good for trekkers and it is a must explore. He said Sarbal is located at the bank of Sindh River, trekkers start from Sarbal village and cover the steep hike of Durinar and Barafsar, two peaks that offer an unforgettably stunning view of the Kashmir Valley.
