Kulgam, May 02: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Tuesday directed the concerned officers to scale up the pace of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) so that the target can be achieved within the stipulated period. He asked the officers to regularly monitor the quality and progress of all allotted works for time-bound completion.
Dr Bilal said that information dissemination is an important component of the mission and stressed upon the conduct of more widespread IEC activities. He convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the status of works under JJM in the district.
During the meeting, the DC took a detailed review of the physical and financial progress made on various JJM works. Executive Engineers from Qazigund and Kulgam Divisions informed the chair that there are 222 works under 143 schemes/projects under JJM in the district. Out of total of 222 works, 217 works stand tendered, 141 works have been taken up for execution and 09 works stand completed.
The DC emphasized that every effort has to be made to ensure that the goal of tap water for all households must be achieved as per the projected timeline. He said the Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all households.
