New Delhi, June 20: On the momentous occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Mother Heeraben Modi, Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandaran paid tribute to her simple yet extraordinary life. He highlighted the profound influence she had on her son, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in shaping his love for the nation and his commitment to the welfare of its people.
In a statement, Governor said, “Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi – the mother and motherland both are greater than heaven. These words, echoing a Sanskrit verse, encapsulate the essence of Mother Heeraben’s immense impact.”
A national seminar “A Mother’s Influence: The Crucial Role of Narendra Modi’s Mother in Moulding his Vision and Leadership” was organized by the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS) at the India International Center in Delhi to highlight the importance of mothers in the making of India’s immensely popular leader. Also, that the day was celebrated as Father’s Day across the world, the program highlighted the significance of parents in the making of visionary leaders.
Governor Harichandaran acknowledged Mother Heeraben’s humble lifestyle despite her son’s global stature. Her selflessness and dedication were evident through her choice to eschew material wealth, refraining from wearing ornaments or acquiring extensive property, he said.
He shared instances that showcased Mother Heeraben’s unwavering support for her son’s decisions, including his landmark move of demonetization. Her presence in the queue at an ATM, alongside ordinary citizens, and her courage in taking the COVID-19 vaccine set a remarkable example, inspiring others, particularly the elderly, to overcome vaccine hesitancy.
In honour of Motherhood Day, a book titled “MAA” compiled by Professor Jasim Mohammed from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s blog in 13 languages, was released. Governor Harichandaran inaugurated the event, emphasizing the significance of this compilation.
The Guest of Honour Kiran Bedi, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, lauded Mother Heeraben’s wisdom, recalling her advice to her son: “Keep your wealth like honesty and serve the poor.” Bedi commended the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS) for organizing the enlightening seminar.
Former Governor of Assam, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, presiding over the seminar, expressed admiration for Mother Heeraben’s genuine affection, evident in her modest financial choices, even as her son became a global leader. He declared her the symbol of an ideal.
The seminar witnessed various eminent personalities paying tribute to Mother Heeraben, recognizing her resilience, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of others. Professor Shambhunath Tiwari of Aligarh Muslim University commended her profound influence, noting that she played a pivotal role in shaping Narendra Modi’s selfless dedication to the nation.
In conclusion, the event celebrated Mother Heeraben as an embodiment of idealism, love, and humility. The Centre for Narendra Modi Studies, alongside Yuva Bharti Trust and the Society for Promotion of Wasteland Development, urged the inclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s heartfelt blog dedicated to his mother in educational curricula.
