Meerut tragedy: Bodies of workers to reach Jammu today

Jammu, Feb 25: The mortal remains of the seven  workers, who died yesterday in a tragic incident at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, will be brought back, official sources said.
A three member team from J&K, comprising of Labour Inspector, led by Javed M Shan,  are in Merrut and are in regular contact with the Labour Commissioner at Meerut, officials said.
“Soon after getting the information, a team was sent to Merrut for coordinating with the concerned authorities there and bring back the mortal remains of the workers from J&K,” DC Ramban, Mussarat Islam informed Rising Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said the bodies of deceased workers would reach here at Jammu on Sunday.
“Our team is there in Merrut and the bodies of the deceased workers will reach here on Sunday ”  Div Comm told Rising Kashmir.    
Meanwhile, officials said that the matter regarding compensation to the families of deceased who were working as laborers in Meerut, will soon be considered.  
The J&K administration has so far not announced any sort of compensation for the 7 deceased workers.
“Soon after the last rites of the deceased workers are performed, we will take up the matter with the Lieutenant Governor  for providing adequate compensation to the families of deceased workers from the relief fund ,” DC Ramban said.  
The DC also said that the company and the contractor who had engaged these people are also going to pay compensation to the families of these workers and the talks in this regard are going on.
Seven people from J&K, working as labourers, died yesterday when an under construction building collapsed in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
The deceased people were working as labourers in the cold storage which was under construction. They belonged to poor families from remote Badhota village of Pancheri in Udhampur district, one from Ramnagar, while one deceased was from Sumbrah village in Ramban district.
