Baramulla, Aug 03: In a heartwarming tale of support, Uzair Nabi, a 13-year-old student from Tarhama Kunzer area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has been gifted a cricket kit by the district administration.

Uzair’s passion for cricket and dreams of representing the country, Kashmir, and his district, Baramulla, like his role model Virat Kohli, have inspired many.

Uzair’s journey to owning a proper cricket kit was not an easy one.

A picture of Uzair with cricket equipment in a gunny bag went viral on social media which caught the attention of netizens who praised his will towards cricket.

Unable to afford a cricket kit, he ingeniously crafted a cricket kit bag from a simple gunny bag, which he used to carry his bat, helmet, and other equipment to the playground every Sunday.

“Earlier I used to carry cricket equipment in my hand. Later on, I took a gunny bag and crafted a cricket bag out of it. I never knew my picture will be viral and will receive this much fame,” Uzair, a sixth-grade student said.

While watching other kids with sophisticated cricket kits, he felt a deep longing to have one of his own, but financial constraints kept him from fulfilling that dream.

“It wasn’t easy. Watching other teammates with sophisticated cricket kit bags used to hurt me a lot but I am aware of my family’s financial status,” he added.

As an all-rounder, Uzair’s love for the sport was evident in the way he played and admired players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

His dedication and talent caught the attention of the people, and with the encouragement of his family, he aspired to make his mark on the cricketing world.

Recognizing Uzair’s potential and his determination to excel in cricket, his family appealed to the district administration and the LG administration for support.

Responding to their plea, the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, took swift action and gifted the young cricketer a brand-new cricket kit.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Uzair expressed his heartfelt thanks to the district administration, especially to DC Baramulla Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, for the invaluable support.

With this new cricket kit, Uzair is now equipped to pursue his dreams with greater confidence and enthusiasm.
