Jammu, Feb 26: Vice-president Youth National Conference Jammu Province Rajeshwer Singh Sunday claimed that the JK Housing and Urban Development department’s imposition of property tax in municipal districts of UT starting on 1 April is nothing more than an assault on the people of UT.
He vehemently opposed levying taxes when the UT’s unemployment rate is at its highest.
Singh claimed that the youth are already suffering from a lack of employment, and that this action will aggravate their wounds even more.
He added that taxing people while there is significant inflation is an extremely unjust decision since it will hurt locals’ pockets much more.
The NC leader pleaded with the UT administration not to implement the tax because they are already paying enough due to inflation.
