Srinagar, June 11: Director/ APCCF Forest Protection Force (FPF) J Frankoi on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed FPF Reporting Centre at Yusmarg.
On the occasion, Frankoi said that all possible measures are being taken for strengthening of forest protection grid in Budgam district, especially in the vulnerable areas so that the menace of anti-forest activities is brought to zero. He directed for use of modern technologies for forest protection like the use of surveillance drones, wireless systems, GPS, etc.
He stressed for intelligence sharing to be done between FPF and forest territorial for strengthening the forest protection network including round-the-clock functioning of forest control rooms and FPF Reporting Centres, increasing mobility of FPF personnel jointly with forest frontline staff.
Farnkoi called for organizing an outreach programme on creating forest-based livelihoods, especially for womenfolk in consultation with local panchayat.
While interacting with the tribal community, he directed for initiating forest-based livelihood support programme to address poverty-related issues of tribal and local communities. He directed for development of Biodiversity Conservation and Eco-recreation Park, Greening of barren slopes through different Agrostological and Bamboo-based interventions around the FPF Reporting Centre to give a boost to the tourism sector in the Yusmarg area.
Director FPF was accompanied by Irfan Rasool Wani, Joint Director, Forest Protection Force, Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Deputy Director Forest Protection Force, Budgam, Mohd Ashraf Katoo, DFO Budgam and other senior Officers of the Department.
