Srinagar, Aug 04: National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of raids at five locations in south Kashmir on Friday, as part of their investigation into a terror-funding related case. The operation aimed to dismantle and neutralize any potential threats posed by extremist elements in the region.
A NIA official wishing anonymity told Rising Kashmir that among the targeted locations was the residence of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, Omar Ganie, located in the Kulgam district. The early dawn raids were meticulously planned and executed by the NIA, in collaboration with local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The joint effort ensured a swift and coordinated operation, minimizing the chances of any untoward incidents, he said. The raids were carried out simultaneously in Kulgam and Pulwama . The NIA’s focus on specific locations in south Kashmir reflects their intelligence-driven approach, aimed at disrupting the activities of militant groups and securing the region from potential security threats.
“As the investigation progresses, the NIA is expected to meticulously examine any evidence seized during the raids and question suspects to gather crucial information about the terror network and its affiliates. The agency’s relentless efforts in combating terrorism reaffirm their commitment to upholding national security and maintaining peace in the region,” he said.
The NIA official said the raids have sent a strong message to those involved in terror activities, reiterating that the Indian security forces will spare no effort in tracking down and bringing to justice those who seek to destabilize the peace and harmony of the nation.
“The NIA’s action marks another step forward in the ongoing battle against terrorism in the region and underscores the nation’s unwavering resolve to safeguard its citizens from any potential threat,” he said.
On August 01, NIA conducted searches in four districts of the Kashmir Valley in a case related to NGO terror funding. The extensive raids were conducted at seven locations in Srinagar, Budgam, Kupwara and Pulwama districts, at the premises of trusts and individuals associated with the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS), an NGO involved in raising funds for banned terrorist organisations.
