Jammu, Dec 06: Panic gripped Jammu Wednesday after a staff member of a well known private school received a bomb threat call. The officials revealed that the caller had said that school “will be decimated”. However, the threatening call over the phone later turned out to be hoax, officials said.
“The teacher of the school received the call over whatsapp about planting of bomb in the school,” SSP Jammu, Vinod Kumar, informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “An FIR has been registered in this regard against unknown person/persons and investigation has been initiated”.
It may be mentioned that Whatsapp calls (internet calls) are hard to trace. “We will ensure that the culprits are brought to book as thorough investigation has been started in this matter,” the SSP further said.
Police are probing the case from various angles and soon the culprits will be brought to book, the SSP said.
Earlier, immediately after the bomb threat call, the school management informed the police after which police acted swiftly while a bomb disposal squad, the dog squad reached the spot and sealed the entire area.
Officials revealed that an extensive and thorough search operation was conducted in the school premises but nothing was found while normal class work continued in the school.
