Pulwama, July 10: In an effort to promote entrepreneurship and organic farming in Jammu and Kashmir, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra/Extension Training Centre Malangpora Pulwama commenced a five-day sponsored training program titled “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Organic Production Systems.” The program, which began on July 10th and will continue until July 14th, aims to equip unemployed rural youth with the necessary skills to become job providers in the agricultural sector.
Sponsored by the Holistic Agriculture Development Project (HADP) in collaboration with the Directorate of Research, SKUAST-K, Shalimar, the training program has attracted twenty participants. Senior officers from the Directorate of Research were present during the inaugural ceremony, emphasizing the significance and potential of organic farming in the region.
Dr. Javeed Ahmad Mugloo, the Professor and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra/Extension Training Centre Malangpora Pulwama, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and participants, highlighting the importance of organic farming in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Jahangeer Ahmad Baba, the program coordinator, provided a detailed overview of the lectures and practical sessions that will be conducted throughout the training program.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by co-coordinator Dr. Gowhar Nabi Parrey, a Scientist in Agro-Forestry. The organizers expressed their optimism that this training program will empower participants to explore entrepreneurial opportunities within the organic production systems, ultimately creating a positive impact on the local economy.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s initiative serves as a stepping stone towards sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs committed to organic farming.
