Jammu, Sep 06: 13th District Speedball Championship organized by J&K Sports Speedball Association concluded on Wednesday at Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School Roop Nagar.
Around 130 players from various schools of Jammu District took part in this fabulous event. Schools namely Dogra Hr. Sec. School,Tiny Tots Hr. Sec School, Cambridge International School ,Crescent Public School, Delhi Public School Naghbani ,Nanda Sports Club ,Jammu Sanskriti School, Crescent Sports Club Janipur, RMP school. Deepali Handa (Princiapl Tiny Tots Hr. Sec School) presided over the function.
Earlier Chief Spokesperson BJP Mahila Morcha J&KUT Ritika Treahan who graced the occasion as Chief Guest inaugurated the tournament. Tarun Uppal (Distt. President Speed Ball Association) & Munish Gupta were guest of honour. Ritika appreciated the performance of students and applauded the organizers for providing platform to these students to take interest in games and sports which according to her is part and parcel of modern-day education.
Speaking on the occasion, Ritika said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to promote sports and sportspersons, and in this year Union Budget, the central government has increased the budget allocation of the sports ministry by about Rs 335 crores in comparison to the previous budget. She said ‘Khelo India’ is the biggest grassroots-level sports talent identification and nurturing scheme running in India today. Through this scheme, Govt identify 1,000 talented athletes every year and offer them scholarships for their training, coaching, diet, kit, medical insurance and out-of-pocket expenses,” she added.
Ritika further stated that the Central Government is making every effort to promote sports under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said, due to these consistent efforts, our athletes are improving the reputation of the nation on a national and international scale as a result.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Suniana Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism, Aastha Nanda (Secretary JKSBA). The matches were officiated by Sahil Janjua, Sandeep Sharma, Amar Kushal, Sahil Kaith, Vishal, Gurvansh Choudhary, Dhurav Choudahry under supervision of Sunny Nanda (General Secretary J&K Sports Speedball Association).
