Srinagar, Mar 06: Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed hope for the announcement of a massive employment package for the thousands of “educated but unemployed” youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem expressed his optimism that PM Modi would generously extend support to the educated unemployed youth, alongside announcing the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and the scheduling of early assembly elections. He said the restoration of statehood and the early elections in J&K had been promised by the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah in the echelons of the Indian Parliament, and the delay in fulfilling these promises was unjustifiable.
Drawing parallels with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the PDF chief urged PM Modi to follow in his footsteps to win the hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He reminded that Atal ji’s doctrine, “Except separatism, the sky is the limit to meet urges and aspirations of the people”, was still held in high regard by the people of Jammu and Kashmir for his genuine sentiments.
“It is high time for the Prime Minister to address all concerns and apprehensions from the psyche of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who, by conviction, are peace-loving, secular, and democratic individuals,” the former minister added.
