Int’l conference on climate change at SKUAST-K concludes

Srinagar, Sep 23: The two-day international conference on “Impact of Climate Change on Socio-Economics and Ecological Transformation in Himalayan Region” concluded on Friday and was attended by around 150 participants from across the country and other foreign delegates. 
Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai was the chief guest of the function. The conference was organized by the Division of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Mahima Research Foundation Varanasi. The valedictory function was held in the VC conference hall. The function started with the welcome address by Prof. Farooq Ahmad Lone (Convener) of the conference.  
Dr. Vikas Gupta (Co-Convener) briefed the audience bout the proceedings of the conference and also read out the recommendations. The guests of honour Prof A. Mushunji from the University of Forte Hare South African and Prof Disna Ratnasekera of the University of Ruhana Sri Lanka also spoke on the occasion.  
During the function, Mahima Research Foundation also gave young scientist awards to Dr Poonam Sharma Div of FST, Dr Jigmet Yangcsen of KVK Neoma Leh, Dr Naseema Wani of FoA and Dr Shamim Ahmad Shamim of Division of Environmental Sciences. Twelve awards were also given to the best oral and poster presenters.
The VC in his concluding remarks congratulated the Division of Environmental Sciences and Mahima Research Foundation for organizing the event.  The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Ratnesh Kumar Rao (Organizing Secretary) of Mahima Research Foundation Varanasi.
