Udhampur, Dec 25: Abdul Gani Teli, Chairman of the OBC Cell at Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Monday criticized the Central government’s policies, saying that only the NC can meet the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir with its vision of a “vibrant, progressive, and united region”.
Addressing a one-day convention of OBC Cell party workers at Cheopera shop in Udhampur, the senior NC leader accused the BJP of deceiving the people with false promises before the elections, leaving the residents of Jammu and Kashmir feeling betrayed. He highlighted that the absence of a representative government has caused suffering among the people, breaking the spine of the common citizen due to the government’s anti-people policies.
Teli pointed out that the government’s policies have led to soaring unemployment, uncontrollable inflation, and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. He argued that the sluggish pace of development projects exposes the hollowness of the claims of unprecedented development. The chairman emphasized that the National Conference is the only party capable of ensuring justice for all communities, including the OBCs. However, he stressed that people need to trust and have confidence in the party and its leadership for a way out of the current challenges.
Teli reiterated the demands of the OBC Cell, including the implementation of 27 percent reservation as per the Mandal Commission, issuance of a one-time certificate to OBC community members, and the construction of hostels for OBC children in every district of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged party workers to actively engage with the public, address their day-to-day issues, and work diligently for the upcoming elections in the state to strengthen the hands of Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah.
Anayat Ullah, District President Udhampur OBC Cell, assured the Chairman OBC Cell that they would make all possible efforts to raise awareness about the achievements of the National Conference and work towards strengthening the party’s base.
