Srinagar, Aug 25: In a remarkable feat, five young judo prodigies hailing from the Kashmir province have clinched their spots in the Jammu and Kashmir UT team for the highly anticipated Junior National Judo Championship. The contingent, consisting of four girls and one boy, is poised to showcase their prowess on the national stage.
The four girls, namely Adn Arshad, Tazeem Fayaz, Tamleek Shah, and Shah Talha, along with the accomplished young judoka Mir Hijran, have secured their positions in their respective weight categories. This achievement comes after an arduous selection process that spanned both Kashmir and Jammu provinces.
The Junior National Judo Championship is slated to unfold at the I.G. Stadium Complex in New Delhi from August 28th to September 1st, 2023. A total of 16 athletes from across Kashmir and Jammu have been chosen to represent the region in this prestigious event.
The elated officials of the J&K Judo Association, including Vice President Abdul Hamid Khan, Joint Secretary Gowhar Khan, and seasoned coaches Senior Judo Coach Shafkat Shafi and Judo Coach Kabra Altaf, have warmly congratulated the selected judokas. They collectively expressed their confidence in the team’s abilities and extended their best wishes for success in the upcoming championship.
