Kolkata, Oct 10: J&K’s batting mainstay Rudrakshi Chib, skipper Ananaya Sharma, talented youngster Shambhavi Rajput and promising medium pacer Mariya Noorain fashioned J&K’s win over strong Hyderabad in the Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy match at Barasat Ground, Kolkata on Tuesday.
J&K earned 4 points from this win and took the points tally to eight as it was J&K’s second consecutive victory in the tournament.
Chasing a modest total of 130 runs, J&K rode on a brilliant half-century by Rudrakshi and reached the target in 43.3 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Rudrakshi showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a classic fifty, scoring 55 runs off 115 balls, studded with 4 boundaries, while Shambhavi contributed valuable 19 runs off 43 balls with 2 fours. Ananaya, Mariya Noorain and Aanvi Singh contributed 12, 9 and 5 runs in the crunch situation respectively.
For Hyderabad, Kesari Dhriti was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 3 wickets by conceding 23 runs in 6 overs, while Srujana and Palthya Parvati claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Hyderabad managed to score a modest total of 129 runs in 44.1 overs. Kunchala Niteesha and K Nidhi played a good knock of 30 runs each, while Katta contributed 28 runs to the total.
For J&K, all the bowlers bowled with disciplined line and length, however, right-arm medium pacer Mariya Noorain was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 13 runs in her 7.2 overs, while right-arm off-spinner Manya Banotra and right-arm leg-spinner Ananaya Sharma bagged 2 wickets each. Medium pacer Aanvi Singh and off-spinner Rudrakshi Chib claimed one wicket each. Manya and Mariya were economical among the bowlers.
