Bandipora, Jan 13: Authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday cracked down on traffic violators in the main market.
Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel ur Rehman, a team from the transport department, led by ARTO Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad Mir, conducted a stringent operation against traffic violators in the main market of Bandipora. The initiative aimed at enforcing traffic laws rigorously to ensure safer roads and improved traffic flow.
The team conducted thorough checks of vehicles, focusing on tackling traffic congestion in Gulshan Chowk, Bandipora. Approximately 60 vehicles, including two-wheelers, were examined during the drive, resulting in the realization of fines amounting to Rs 35,000 from offenders. ARTO Bandipora also served suspension notices to 10 license holders for traffic violations.
The DC Bandipora took immediate action following concerns raised by traders and the general public about growing issues related to traffic congestion and its impact on both commerce and public safety. During the visit, the DC expressed strong disapproval of traffic rule violations, wrong parking, and other traffic offences, urging the concerned departments to ensure smooth traffic flow without congestion.
Shakeel ur Rehman emphasised the need for strict monitoring of traffic movements in market areas and called for the active cooperation of citizens in maintaining a conducive traffic environment. The traders and the general public praised the swift action and speedy redressal by the district administration in addressing the traffic-related concerns.
The administration urged citizens to cooperate with the implemented measures and actively participate in maintaining a favourable traffic environment for the overall betterment of the community.
