Srinagar, Aug 19: Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh on Tuesday visited Baramulla Garrison where he paid homage to fallen soldiers and interacted with NCC cadets.Defence spokesman in a statement issued here said that the visit carried a special sentiment for the senior officer, who had earlier commanded the prestigious Dagger Division in north Kashmir. Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh laid a wreath at the Dagger War Memorial in a solemn ceremony that witnessed NCC cadets of 3 J&K Battalion presenting arms in honour of the martyrs. He later addressed cadets, Permanent Instructor Staff, Associate NCC Officers, and heads of institutions, praising their dedication to community service and nation-building. Reiterating the NCC’s motto of “Unity and Discipline,” he urged cadets to uphold the spirit of “Nation First” in every endeavour. The DG also outlined new initiatives being introduced in the NCC, including the integration of modern technologies into training and greater emphasis on social sector activities to nurture responsible and patriotic citizens. During the programme, outstanding cadets, ANOs, and PI staff were felicitated for their achievements in NCC activities, sports, and their exemplary contribution during Operation SINDOOR. The visit concluded with a pledge by cadets and staff to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and to work for peace and progress in Kashmir.
