Budgam, Aug 12: The Cyber Police of Budgam district on Tuesday said it achieved a major success in tackling online financial fraud, recovering Rs 1,141,233 and preventing an estimated loss of Rs 4,032,499 from fraudsters. These recoveries were made following various complaints related to fraudulent bank transactions.An official from the district police headquarters in Budgam said that Cyber Police Budgam traced and recovered 29 missing smartphones of various makes and models, valued in lakhs of rupees, using the CEIR portal, and promptly returned them to their rightful owners.Under the guidance of SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar, the Cyber Police continues to assist citizens with technological issues, address online frauds reported via the NCRP portal, and conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public about emerging cyber threats,” the official said.He advised citizens to exercise caution by not sharing bank details, OTPs, or any sensitive personal information with anyone. He further urged them to report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest police station or through the Cyber Crime helpline 1930.The general public has widely appreciated the efforts of Cyber Police Budgam in safeguarding both their finances and property, reinforcing community trust in cybercrime prevention initiatives, the official added.
