Baramulla, Oct 28: A government teacher at a primary school in Trikanjan Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been suspended following allegations of harassing a female student.
An official from the Department of Education stated that the suspension came after a complaint was lodged by the victim (name withheld) against the said teacher for inappropriate behavior during classroom activities.
“Upon receiving the complaint, a comprehensive investigation was conducted by a designated team, subsequently leading to the matter being escalated to the Chief Education Officer of Baramulla,” he said.
The official mentioned that the teacher was suspended after the allegations made by the student were found to be true.
An official order, vide number Ceo/Bla/Estt/T-114947-51 dated 28-10-2023, issued by the Chief Education Officer Baramulla office reads that Abdul Rashid Dar, RRET GPS Trikanjan-B Zone Boniyar, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect.
“During the period of suspension, the said official shall remain attached in this office,” the official order further reads.
Officials said that furthermore, it has been discovered that the teacher has faced other similar complaints in the past, adding another layer of concern to this troubling incident.
