Budgam, July 31: Residents of Shunglipora village in the Khag Tehsil of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have urged the government to undertake the macadamization of the road connecting the Shunglipora main road to Gill Bagh and other link roads into the area.Abdul Gaffar Malik, a local resident of Shunglipora village, informed Rising Kashmir that they encounter numerous difficulties daily due to the bad condition of the road from Shunglipora main to Gill Bagh.”The potholes and uneven surfaces of the road are causing significant challenges for the residents in the area. It is difficult for people to walk properly on this road,” he said “We are nomadic families, and our issues have been persistently overlooked by the government. It is imperative for the government to take responsibility and implement the necessary measures to macadamize the Gill Bagh road and the connecting roads in the area, as this is one of our primary demands,” he added.Malik said that private Sumo cab drivers refuse to come to their locality due to the deteriorating condition of the road.”We are appealing to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Singh to address this issue so that our longstanding problems, which have persisted for the last 30 years in the village, can be resolved,” he said.Bashir Ahmad Kohkar, another local resident said  that the poor condition of the road in the village is causing significant hardships for the residents, as our demands have not been met by any government over the past 30 years.”When it rains or snows, water flows over this road, making it impassable for people during such weather conditions,” Kohkar said He said that during rainy periods, the road becomes muddy, making it challenging for residents to walk. This situation is particularly detrimental for school-going children and elderly individuals due to the poor road conditions in the area.”During times of emergencies, we are forced to pay double the fare to drivers as they refuse to travel on this road. As their  vehicles are getting damaged due to the  poor road conditions. The Government must consider the suffering of our community that we are experiencing in our village,” KhokarHe further said that we are urging the Government to undertake the macadamization of the road from the Main road to Gill bagh, as well as the link roads from Panchyat Ghar via Abdul Gaffar’s house to Khokar Majid Shareef, so that the residents can get relief into the area.An official from the R & B Subdivision in Khag said  that will  will look into the matter and necessary steps will be taken regarding this issue.
