Budgam, July 28: In observance of ‘World Hepatitis Day,’ a comprehensive awareness and screening programme was organized today at District Hospital Budgam, focusing on the theme of hepatitis prevention, early diagnosis, and access to treatment.In a statement issued here, the initiative aimed to enhance community awareness and promote proactive health-seeking behavior around hepatitis and its long-term impacts.A Continuing Medical Education (CME) session was jointly conducted by the Department of Medicine, featuring expert participation from Dr. Irshad Ahmad (Gastroenterologist) and Dr. Mehmood Qadri, with insightful presentations by Dr. Kunal and Dr. Tauseef Balroo. The session focused on key clinical and public health aspects of hepatitis, including its modes of transmission, preventive strategies, diagnosis, and clinical management.The CME witnessed active participation from hospital staff, paramedical professionals, and medical students, reflecting District Hospital Budgam’s strong commitment to advancing public health education and training.In parallel, a mass screening campaign was held at the Central Laboratory, where samples were collected for hepatitis testing. Patients visiting the hospital were also sensitized about the significance of World Hepatitis Day, the dangers of untreated hepatitis, and the critical importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, and timely treatment.The day’s activities marked the culmination of a week-long campaign carried out across various service points within the hospital.
