Jammu, July 28: The Traffic Police Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday issued a comprehensive traffic plan for July 29 covering the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other strategic routes in the Union Territory. The advisory comes amid continued movement disruptions due to vehicle breakdowns, single-lane stretches, and ongoing Yatra-related traffic.According to the advisory, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), including private cars and passenger vehicles, will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar sides on NH-44, subject to fair weather and road conditions. However, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will continue to ply on alternate days only.“HMVs from Qazigund towards Jammu will be allowed after 7:00 PM, and no such vehicles will be permitted to move post-1900 hrs. Coordination will be ensured between Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Srinagar and Ramban before release,” the advisory reads, adding that “due to safety concerns between Ramban and Banihal, particularly from landslides and shooting stones, commuters and LMV operators are strongly advised to undertake travel during daylight hours only.”It said that fruit-laden trucks and vehicles carrying perishables must report before 9:00 AM at designated holding points between Navyug Tunnel and Levdoora, to ensure priority passage. Overloading is strictly prohibited, and all vehicle owners are advised to check fitness and carry adequate fuel before starting their journey. “Only 6- and 10-tyre HMVs will be allowed to use Dhar Road, and empty or fuel-carrying trucks returning to Jammu must take the Mughal Road route.About the cut-Off Timings for LMVs/Passenger Vehicles on NH-44, the advisory reads that for Nagrota (Jammu to Srinagar): 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Jakheni (Udhampur to Srinagar): 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Qazigund (to Jammu): 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM. “No vehicle will be allowed to move before or after the specified timings,” the advisory reads. “For Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)–LMVs and HPSVs will be allowed from both directions between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (Anantnag bound) and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Kishtwar bound). HMVs are restricted as per earlier SDM orders.”For Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari Road (SSG), traffic from Minamarg to Srinagar will be allowed from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and from Sonamarg to Kargil between 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM. No movement is permitted after the cut-off. “For Mughal Road–LMVs/passenger vehicles will be allowed from both directions, while HMVs up to 10 tyres will only be permitted from Shopian to Poonch between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.” The helpline line numbers for road status include Jammu: 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, Srinagar: 0194-2450022, 0194-2485396, 1800-180-7091, Ramban: 9419993745, 1800-180-7043, Udhampur: 8491928625, Kishtwar: 9906154100 and Kargil: 9541902330, 9541902331
