Kulgam, Dec 01: The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) conducted a workshop in Kulgam focused on eradicating violence against women. The workshop aimed to educate the women’s community about gender-based violence and effective strategies to address it.
An official said that in line with the commitment to fostering a safer and more equitable society, NRLM Kulgam organised a workshop on the “Elimination of Violence Against Women.” The initiative is an integral part of the broader National Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence #NayiChetna aimed at raising awareness, educating the public, and advocating for change, he said.
The theme for this year’s campaign is “Sahenge nahi, Kahenge! Chuppi Todenge”, the official said, adding that this theme focuses on the urgency of encouraging women who have been facing violence to come forward and speak for it.
Zahoor Akram, District Programme Manager (DPM) NRLM Kulgam said, “We are actively engaging with other line departments to create a cohesive force for putting an end to this evil. This month-long campaign has been divided into different activity-based schedules which will be carried at the District Mission Management Unit, Block Mission Management Unit, Cluster Level Federations, and then at the Village Organization level of National Rural Livelihoods Mission Kulgam.”
The organizers have also roped in many other experts to raise perfect awareness about the topic. The event was also attended by legal experts and officials from Special Cells for Women, Kulgam.
