KULGAM, JULY 18: To review the implementation and progress of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan – Catch the Rain (JSA-CTR) campaign in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers, here.The meeting featured detailed discussions on ongoing initiatives, future strategies, and departmental roles to ensure effective water conservation and rainwater harvesting.During the meeting, officers from the Rural Development, Forest, Agriculture, Irrigation, Jal Shakti, and other line departments briefed the chair on the status of ongoing water conservation initiatives.Emphasizing the importance of sustainable water management, DC urged all departments to minimize runoff and maximize water harvesting efforts.He stressed the need for greater inter-departmental coordination to fast-track the execution of JSA-CTR projects.To enhance impact on the ground, DC instructed departments to ensure construction of a minimum of five rainwater harvesting structures per panchayat to improve groundwater recharge and rainwater storage.He also instructed for regular cleaning, rejuvenation, and maintenance of water bodies to ensure their long-term sustainability.DC directed all concerned departments to ensure proper data uploading on the portal.The meeting was attended by the District Programme Officer, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Executive Engineers, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chief Agriculture Officer and other concerned officers.
