Uri drowning incident : Dr Farooq condoles loss of lives

Srinagar, Jul 17: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic drowning incident in Uri that claimed the lives of three individuals, including a noted scholar Haji Mehnaz Rashid Shah of Khanyar.In a statement issued here, Dr Abdullah said, “I’m deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate drowning incident in Uri. The loss of young lives in such a heartbreaking manner is a tragedy beyond words. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of pain and grief. May Almighty give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”The NC chief urged the local administration to take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure proper safety arrangements near water bodies, especially during the peak summer season when such tragedies are more likely.Party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar also expressed solidarity with the families of the victims and prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls.
