35th District Samba Volleyball Championship 2023-24 begins

Samba, Jan 14: The spirited battleground of volleyball in District Samba witnessed a riveting clash of talent as the 35th District Volleyball Championship unfolded under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) for both men and women. The grand event, hosted at the Abhyaas Volleyball Academy in Tarlokpur, Jakh, showcased exceptional athleticism, with noteworthy personalities gracing the occasion.
Sanjeev Sharma, PRO of Dr Jatender Singh from the PMO office, presided as the chief guest, while Sudershan Singh Slathia (DDC) member and RETD Captain Prem Nath Sharma added prestige as the guest of honour. The championship boasted an impressive roster of dignitaries, including Ramesh Kumar Sharma, President of the District Volleyball Association Samba, and B.S. Jamwal, Secretary of the District Volleyball Association Samba.
Among the distinguished attendees were Variender Singh (Ex Panch), RETD Subedaar Parshotam Kumar, Ex Sarpanch Randhir Sharma (Palli), Ex Sarpanch Jitender Singh of Gurha Slathia, and several others who contributed to the event’s success. The ceremony witnessed the conferral of the Award of Honour to Shalvi Charak, Raghunandan Sharma, and Sheetal Kumari.
The spotlight of the day was on the semi-final and final matches, which unfolded in a crescendo of excitement. In the men’s section final, Barjani Volleyball Club emerged victorious by defeating Abhyaas Volleyball Club in a thrilling encounter with a (3-0) sets scoreline of (25-23), (25-22), (25-17). Meanwhile, in the women’s section final, Abhyaas Volleyball Club showcased dominance by triumphing over Trikuta Volleyball Club with a commanding (3-0) sets victory, clinching the title with scores of (25-16), (25-16), (25-9).
The intensity on the court was matched by the efficiency of the match officials – Sat Paul, Neeraj Kumar, Aman Kumar, Raman, Rohani, and Shivali – who ensured fair play throughout the tournament.
