The traffic police Srinagar city on Sunday issued a traffic advisory as Jammu and Kashmir Police are gearing up to host “Kashmir Marathon-2023,” a Run for Peace event that is expected to draw a diverse crowd from all walks of life. Scheduled for Monday, October 2nd, the marathon route will stretch from Lake View Park Golf Course (LVPGC) to Duck Park via the picturesque Nishat-Foreshore road.

To ensure the smooth movement of participants, the Boulevard Road in Srinagar will be temporarily closed for general traffic from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM on the day of the event. As a result, traffic advisory measures have been put in place:

The section of Boulevard Road from Lalit Ghat to Nishat-Foreshore road up to Habbak Crossing will be discouraged for all traffic. Motorists coming from Harwan, Shalimar, and Nishat areas are advised to use alternate routes through Burzahama, Chandpora, Tailbal, Zakura, Habbak, and Hazratbal Road. Those approaching Lal Chowk from Ganderbal/Nagbal are encouraged to take the 90 feet Soura road or Zakura-Hazratbal Road. People are urged to avoid unnecessary travel on Boulevard Road during the marathon’s peak hours from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Medical emergencies and travelers heading to Srinagar Airport will be permitted to use the Foreshore-Dargah-Khanyar Road.
