Ganderbal, May 31: In a tragic road accident near Bajri Nallah on the treacherous Zojila Pass, a woman lost her life while her husband sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and overturned.
According to reports, Sonamarg Police Station received reliable an information that a Honda Elevate bearing registration number 23BH2802L, driven by Prateek Mandal, son of Shyamal Mandal, a resident of SH-3, Shatabdi LO-OPT Society, West Bengal, met with the accident while travelling from Sonamarg to Kargil.
The vehicle reportedly lost control and veered off the road near Bajri Nallah before overturning. Both occupants of the car — Prateek Mandal and his wife, Annu Smriti — sustained injuries in the mishap.
They were immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sonamarg for initial treatment. However, due to the severity of their injuries, doctors referred them to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar. Unfortunately, Annu Smriti succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation are underway.
