Jammu, Oct 15: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has called upon the top BJP leaders and leaders of RSS frontal organisations here to expand the Sangh’s base and its Shakahs (branches) in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said there is a conducive political atmosphere in the Union Territory (UT), given the presence of BJP governments both at the Centre and in J&K.
“We have to focus on Kashmir region as also on Poonch, Rajouri, Doda and Kishtwar areas where the RSS has no Shakhas and the Sangh activities are almost nil,” a senior BJP leader said while quoting Bhagwat having directed the leaders in a closed-door meeting.
A senior BJP leader told Rising Kashmir that the RSS chief in a closed-door meeting emphasised the need to focus on the Kashmir region, as well as areas like Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, and Kishtwar, where the organisation currently has no presence. He said Bhagwat directed the leaders to establish Shakahs in these regions and actively engage in Sangh activities.
“The present situation presents an opportune time to integrate people from these areas into the national mainstream, given the favourable political climate,” the leader said while quoting the RSS chief.
The RSS chief also urged the leaders to engage with communities where the organisation has a limited presence, and make them aware of the RSS’s nationalist ideology and principles, he added.
