Baramulla, Oct 01: In a powerful display of unity and empowerment, the Noor-E-Raftar 2023 Women’s Cycling Rally kicked off from Shaukat Ali Stadium, Baramulla on Sunday, marking its third consecutive year of inspiring participation. Organized by the Indian Army, this annual event witnessed an overwhelming response from girls hailing from Baramulla district, who cycled an impressive 75 kilometers through the challenging terrain of Jammu & Kashmir, culminating at Kaman Aman Post, Uri.
A total of 75 determined women cyclists took part in this physically demanding journey, symbolizing resilience and unity in the face of adversity. The event garnered widespread attention from both participants and local spectators alike, fostering a spirit of camaraderie in the region.
Distinguished military and civilian dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence, emphasizing the event’s significance and the commitment of the Indian Army to local communities. In recognition of their remarkable achievements, five prizes were awarded in two age categories. Ms. Sania Rashid clinched victory in the Under 16 years category, while Ms. Mehak Mustakh emerged victorious in the age category above 16 years.
This event serves as a poignant symbol of the close integration between the Indian Army and the local population, highlighting the military’s efforts towards women’s empowerment. The cyclists, inspired by their experience, vowed to return in even greater numbers next year, further cementing the deep bond forged between the people of Kashmir and the Indian Army.
