Pulwama, May 09: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Sakina Itoo Masood, on Friday said the Health Department is fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
She made the statement while speaking to the media at Uri after visiting Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla.
Sakina Itoo was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, MLA Uri Sajjad Shafi, and MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar during the visit.
The minister commended the Indian Army for discharging their professional duties efficiently. She also informed that all the injured persons shifted to GMC Baramulla are recovering well and are in stable condition.
The delegation visited the house of a woman from Uri who lost her life in cross-border shelling by the Pakistan Army on Thursday, and offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
Later, the Health Minister inspected the areas affected by the shelling and assessed the extent of damage. At Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri, she reviewed the availability of medicines, blood supplies, emergency wards, and helpline services.
She expressed satisfaction over the performance of the medical staff, stating that the Secretary Health, Director Health, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Block Medical Officer (BMO), and other staff members are diligently performing their duties and assisting the affected population.
“Health Department is ready to deal with any urgency,” she said, adding that she appreciates the efforts of the security forces who are standing with the people and serving the country during these challenging times.
