Jammu, Apr 29, 2025: National Conference (NC) Central Zone convened a crucial meeting on Tuesday, led by former minister and Central Zone president Babu Rampaul, to address the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the tragic loss of 26 innocent lives.
Attended by senior party workers and zonal office-bearers, the meeting issued a strongly worded resolution condemning the attack, describing it as a “massacre of innocents” and a “cowardly act aimed at disturbing the peace and harmony of the region.”
Rampaul expressed deep anguish over the tragic incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families affected by the violence.
In light of the incident, Rampaul endorsed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s proactive decision to call a Special Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to discuss the grave implications of the Pahalgam attack. He hailed the move as timely and necessary, asserting that a united political response was vital to deliver a strong message against terrorism.
The NC leader supported the government’s initiative to appoint ministers to various states aimed at safeguarding the interests of Jammu and Kashmir’s students and business community. “This effort would ensure the security and well-being of J&K citizens residing outside the Union Territory and counter the nefarious designs of Pakistan, which seeks to incite divisions among the people of India,” he said.
Rampaul added, “These attacks are intended to sow seeds of fear and mistrust among our citizens. It is our collective responsibility to stand united and reject these attempts to destabilise the nation.”
The senior NC leader called for unity in this critical hour and to resist any divisive agendas driven by those intent on exploiting religious differences. He appealed to the nation’s people, political parties, social organisations and civil society to remain vigilant against fringe elements attempting to instigate unrest and to protect Jammu and Kashmir students and business owners facing threats in other states.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous pledge from all NC Central Zone members to stand firmly against terrorism and to uphold the values of peace, communal harmony and brotherhood across the Union Territory and the nation.
