Udhampur, April 21: Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur Monday celebrated World Creativity and Innovation Day with great enthusiasm.
The event was organised by the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), aiming to promote the spirit of creativity, progress and transformation. Principal Prof Nalini Pathania addressed the gathering, encouraging students to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace innovation. She highlighted the importance of cultivating original ideas and transforming them into meaningful outcomes.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Preeti Dubey, Convenor of IIC, who emphasised the need for skill development and self-reliance among students. “Innovation begins with belief,” she said, urging students to remain curious, collaborative, and confident in their creative pursuits. A special highlight of the event was the inspirational talk by Osheen, an alumna of the college and owner of Osheen Obsession. She shared her journey from being a student to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Her address underlined the importance of acquiring skills and persistently working towards one’s goals. The event was supported by members of the Institution Innovation Council, including Prof Rachna Bharti, Prof Yash Paul, Prof Pardeep Singh, Dr Madhvi Bhardwaj, Dr Sarabjeet Kour Sudan, and Prof Parwinder Kaur. The committee reiterated its commitment to supporting student-led ideas and fostering a pathway from ideation to entrepreneurship. Principal Pathania appreciated the efforts of the IIC and IQAC members and encouraged the regular organisation of such events to cultivate the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) among youth. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr Madhvi Bhardwaj.
