Jammu, April 18: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) conducted a touching event titled “Grateful Hearts, Loving Hands” to acknowledge the invaluable role of grandparents in students’ lives. The event invited students to create personalised gratitude cards for their grandparents, offering a meaningful way to express love, appreciation, and treasured memories.
In addition to the card-making activity, students shared their most cherished memories with their grandparents, from simple bedtime stories to life-changing lessons. These heartfelt stories brought laughter and emotions, fostering deeper intergenerational connections. The initiative, conceived by Kriti Mahajan and Abikash Gupta, aimed to inspire students to recognise the immense contributions of their grandparents. NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar expressed his delight at the overwhelming participation, stating, “This event was designed to instil gratitude in young minds and emphasise the importance of family values and connections across generations.” The session concluded with students pledging to maintain stronger bonds with their grandparents, cherishing every moment spent with them. The event was supported by volunteers Abhishek Sah, Laxman Singh, Piyush Soni, Arpit Raj and several others, who helped in its smooth coordination.
