Ganderbal, Apr 05: Residents of Rezan Guhipora in the Gund area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have voiced serious concern over a growing pile of garbage near a segregation shed, urging the authorities to take immediate action.
Locals say the unattended waste has become not only an eyesore but also a health and environmental hazard. They are also demanding the installation of a gate at the entrance of the site to prevent further misuse of the land.
Adding to their worries, residents said the site has become a hotspot for stray dogs, causing fear and inconvenience—especially for school-going children and daily commuters.
In response, Block Development Officer (BDO) Gund, Sheikh Arif, assured timely intervention. “The department will soon remove all the garbage from these sites to ensure there’s no further inconvenience to the public,” he said.
BDO Arif also urged residents to refrain from dumping waste on roads, footpaths, and in water bodies. He emphasized the need for public cooperation to maintain cleanliness and protect the environment.
Locals hope that swift administrative action will bring a lasting solution and restore hygiene in the area.
