JAMMU, Apr 04: Security measures have been heightened in Jammu and Kashmir as the region braces for the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, scheduled to begin on April 6.
Amit Shah is set to lead the celebrations for the BJP’s foundation day on Sunday, April 6, in Jammu. As part of the celebrations, the J&K BJP, under the direction of the party’s high command, has organised an ambitious programme to hoist the party’s flag at 1 lakh locations across the Union Territory.
Later in the evening, Shah will chair a crucial meeting with senior BJP leaders and all newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from J&K at the party’s headquarters in Trikuta Nagar. According to reliable sources within the party, the Home Minister’s office has instructed all 28 J&K BJP MLAs and five senior party leaders to attend the meeting on Sunday.
“The 28 MLAs and five senior leaders, including General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, and three Members of Parliament—Jugal Kishore Sharma (Union Minister), Dr. Jitendra Singh (Rajya Sabha MP), and Ghulam Ali Khatana—have been directed to attend the meeting, which wil take place between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm,” the sources informed Rising Kashmir.
Initially, Amit Shah was scheduled to visit J&K for two days—on April 7 and 8—but due to the foundation day celebrations falling on April 6, his visit has been extended by one day.
