Pulwama, Sept 02 : Acting upon the directives of the Special Designated Court in Pulwama under NIA Act, a team of officials from Pampore police station served a proclamation notice at the residence of Owais Feroz Mir in Frestabal, prominently displaying it in various locations within the locality.
This proclamation notice, publicly read and affixed at conspicuous spots, is a pivotal development in the ongoing case involving Owais Feroz, a suspected fugitive.
The Special Judge (designated under the NIA Act) in Pulwama had issued a proclamation ordering Owais Feroz Mir, son of Feroz Ahmad Mir, a resident of Frestabal Pampore in the southern district, to surrender either before the court or the investigating officer by October 10, 2023.
This proclamation, dated August 31, was executed on Saturday when a police team visited the accused’s residence. The notice was affixed in the presence of an executive magistrate, civil witness, and the accused’s family members.
Owais Feroz faces serious charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or (UA(P) Act) in a case dating back to 2018, registered under FIR No. 42/2018. Despite repeated attempts to secure his appearance before the investigating officer, he has consistently evaded authorities.
This evasion prompted the issuance of a non-bailable warrant earlier this month, as the court believes that Owais Feroz is deliberately avoiding arrest. The proclamation issued by the Special Judge Pulwama explicitly directs Owais Feroz to appear either before the court or the investigating officer, SDPO Pampore stationed at Police Station Pampore, by or before October 10, 2023. Non-compliance with this directive could result in further legal action against the accused.
