Jammu, March 24: As part of the J&K Police’s initiative to raise awareness about newly introduced criminal laws, Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic Range Jammu, Dr Hasseb Mughal, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking lecture at Central University Jammu, on Monday.
Held at the Rajinder Singh Auditorium (DDE Building), the session saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students across various disciplines, including BA, MA, Public Administration, Economics, Mass Communication, and PhD scholars. The audience actively engaged with the lecture.
Dr Mughal provided a comprehensive analysis of the three newly enacted criminal laws, explaining their purpose, scope, and far-reaching implications for the justice system. The discussion covered key legal challenges, including— cybercrime – tackling digital offences and safeguarding online security, domestic violence – strengthening legal protection for victims and white-collar crimes – enhancing legal frameworks to counter financial fraud and corruption.
Beyond criminal law, Dr Mughal also addressed traffic regulations, accident prevention strategies, and recent advancements in traffic management. He highlighted the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and Intelligent Traffic Light System (ITLS) introduced in Jammu city, emphasising their role in improving road safety and reducing accidents.
The session concluded with a lively question and answer segment, where students sought expert insights on criminal justice reforms and traffic law enforcement. Jaswant Singh, Registrar, Central University Jammu, expressed appreciation for the J&K Police’s efforts, emphasising the importance of such knowledge-sharing sessions in fostering legal awareness and critical thinking among students.
