Srinagar, March 18: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohammad Ilyas Khateeb, inaugurated a training programme on Natural Farming under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) at the Agriculture Complex, Lal Mandi, Srinagar on Tuesday.
Organised by the Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, the day-long training session was attended by officers from the agriculture and allied departments. In his address, the Director Agriculture highlighted the programme’s objective of equipping officers with in-depth knowledge of natural farming principles, strategies, and guidelines under NMNF. He urged participants to make the most of such training initiatives to ensure the successful implementation of the mission at the grassroots level. Earlier, NMNF Nodal Officer Sheikh Imran delivered a detailed presentation on the scope and potential of natural farming in the Kashmir division. He emphasised its role in enhancing farm productivity, ensuring sustainability, and supporting rural livelihoods, while also discussing the technical aspects of the practice.
District Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Gulzar Ahmad Shah, also delivered a lecture on natural farming, further enriching the session. The event saw the participation of Deputy Director Agriculture (Central) Waheed-U-Rehmaan, Deputy Director (Law Enforcement) Mujtaba Yahya, and other senior officers from the agriculture and allied departments.
