Jammu, Mar 12: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Doda, Shakti Parihar on Thursday accused the Omar Abdullah-led government of discriminating against the Jammu region, alleging that Kashmir received more funds from the Health Department compared to Jammu.
“The grants for the Health Department were passed in the Assembly today, and it is evident that Kashmir received more funding, while Jammu region was allocated significantly less,” said Parihar, while speaking to reporters in Jammu.
He further said that all BJP MLAs raised the issue vociferously in the House, following which the concerned minister assured a review of the matter and to ensure equal funding for both regions in the health sector.
The grants for the Health, Social Welfare, and Higher Education Departments were approved during the Assembly session.
Parihar said there is a shortage of staff, especially paramedical staff, in Doda, urging the minister to address the issue promptly.
The BJP MLA also demanded the upgradation of schools in Doda and the provision of adequate staff, citing severe staff shortages in many schools.
