Srinagar, Mar 13: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Thursday, informed the House that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Rs 161.201 crore raw water main project, aimed at ensuring a sustainable water supply for Srinagar, is currently awaiting necessary approvals.
Responding to a query raised by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and MLA, Tariq Hameed Karra, Rana confirmed that the DPR has been prepared for the provision, laying, testing and commissioning of a raw water main from Preng to Rangil. However, he emphasized that the DPR has not yet received final approval.
“While the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has granted the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC), we are still in the process of securing approvals from other concerned departments, including Forest, Wildlife, Soil Conservation, and Environment,” he stated.
“The project will only proceed after securing the required funding. As of now, we cannot provide specific dates for approval or execution,” he added.
