Ganderbal, March 13: A parent from Surfraw Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, has appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to conduct re-examination for the Class 12 IT (Vocational) paper, which several students in the hard zone missed due to heavy snowfall on March 3.
Mushtaq Ahmad, father of Shagufta Mushtaq, a Class 12 student, stated that his daughter, along with two other students, was unable to reach the examination centre due to severe weather conditions and confusion over postponement messages. “My daughter has attended all her other exams, including English and Political Science. However, due to intense snowfall and misleading information about exam rescheduling, she missed the IT paper,” said Ahmad. He added that students from remote, high-altitude areas faced extreme difficulties in commuting that day.
The appeal, submitted in writing to the Principal of GBHSS Hariganiwan and forwarded to JKBOSE, requested a special re-examination to ensure that affected students do not suffer academic setbacks due to circumstances beyond their control.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Ganderbal, Oneel Kumar Bhat, acknowledged the situation and urged parents to formally apply to JKBOSE for consideration. He assured that the matter would be taken up with the higher ups to prevent any disruption to the students’ academic progress. The affected students, having completed their other papers, now await JKBOSE’s decision on whether a re-examination will be granted.
