Reasi, March 13: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, Anand Jain Thursday conducted his first official visit to the IRP-1st battalion, to review its operational preparedness and security arrangements at various locations, including A-Coy Katra, E-Coy and battalion headquarters Reasi.
Upon arrival, ADGP Jain was warmly welcomed by Anita Sharma, Commandant IRP-1st Battalion and Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Railways Katra. He carried out a thorough inspection of the A-Coy headquarters, Railway Guards and security personnel at Katra, instructing them to remain extra vigilant given the prevailing security scenario in J&K.
A guard of honour was presented at the Unit Quarter Guard, followed by a plantation drive at A-Coy headquarters, where ADGP Jain planted a mango tree. He also engaged with GOs/NGOs and inspected the entire Battalion complex in the presence of senior officers, including SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, SSP APCR Jammu Rajinder Singh and Dy.CO IRP-1st Bn Paramjeet Singh.
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of ‘Shaheed Gulab Singh Memorial Park’, honouring Martyr HC Gulab Singh, who laid down his life fighting terrorists in Camp Keller, Shopian, on 19th March 2011. As a tribute to his bravery, ADGP Jain planted a Juniper (Ornamental) plant in the memorial park. During the visit, ADGP Jain also held a Darbar with battalion officers and personnel, listening to their concerns and assuring prompt resolution of their issues.
