Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, conducted an extensive tour of District Udhampur on Wednesday.
During her visit, she held a public meeting at Jamia Masjid Adarsh Colony, where she reviewed the functioning of the Waqf Board and assessed the Waqf properties. She also took stock of arrangements for the ongoing holy month Ramadhan in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Prem Singh, CEO J&K Waqf Board, Zaheer Kafi, Administrator Waqf Board, Abid Hussain, CEO Municipality Rajinder Digra and other district officers were present.
Upon her arrival, Dr. Andrabi received a warm welcome from Chairman Jamia Masjid Development Committee Eid Gah Adarsh Colony, Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, along with local Molvis, Imams and a large number of local people of the District.
Community representatives presented various issues and demands concerning Waqf properties and related facilities.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Andrabi emphasized the significance of safeguarding and developing Waqf properties for the welfare of the community. She urged all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring the proper management and protection of Waqf assets. She lauded the communal harmony in Udhampur, acknowledging the strong bonds of brotherhood among the people of the district.
Expressing her gratitude for the public’s participation, she underscored the importance of infrastructural development and directed concerned authorities to undertake the renovation of Waqf properties across the district.
To boost local employment opportunities, Dr. Andrabi proposed the construction of a shopping complex near Jamia Masjid.
Later, the Chairperson J&K Waqf Board convened a meeting with district officers from various departments at Dak Bungalow, Udhampur. Discussions centered on several key developmental initiatives, including Beautification of Dargahs, Relocation of electricity poles, Proposal for constructing a commercial complex on Waqf land, Development of basement and ground parking facilities,
Establishment of a shopping complex on the ground floor etc.
Dr Andrabi directed the ADC to expedite the implementation of these projects at the earliest. Dr. Andrabi instructed the concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted electricity and adequate water supply to facilitate the smooth observance of Ramadhan.
She also engaged with the local community, attentively listening to their grievances and assuring them of prompt redressal.
