Katra, March 7: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Friday concluded a two-day online workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design, aimed at enhancing participants’ problem-solving, creativity, and innovation skills.
The workshop, coordinated by Mir Irfan Ul Haq (Associate Professor, SME) and Ankush Anand (Coordinator, Bachelor of Design), was jointly organised by the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), SMVDU, and SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC). It attracted over 80 participants, including students, entrepreneurs, designers, and aspiring innovators from prestigious institutions across India, such as UIET Kathua, Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi), Central University of Rajasthan, IUST Awantipora, Jammu University, Delhi Technological University, and Galgotia University.
The workshop featured renowned experts who conducted insightful sessions—Sumer Singh, Department of Design, IIT Delhi, Dinesh Singh, Mechanical Engineering Department, NIT Srinagar, Abhilash Kumar Braroo, Associate Project Manager, JKEDI, Deepshika, Department of Design, JMI, New Delhi, Taruna Singh, Department of Design, DTU, New Delhi, Nandeesha M, Lead UX Designer and Design Thinking Expert, SAP Labs India
The workshop provided a comprehensive approach to integrating “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design” methodologies, equipping attendees with practical strategies for tackling real-world challenges. Addressing the participants, Ashutosh Vashistha (President, IIC, SMVDU), Sanjay Mohan Sharma (CEO, SMVDU TBIC), A.K. Das (Dean, R&D), and Sanjeev Anand (Associate Dean, R&D) reiterated SMVDU’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. They also expressed gratitude to Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, for his support and academic leadership in organising such initiatives. Notably, SMVDU is the only university in the Union Territory of J&K offering a four-year Bachelor of Design programme, reinforcing its dedication to nurturing future designers and innovators.
