DPS Srinagar Hosts Snow Ski Courses at Gulmarg

Srinagar, Feb 17: Delhi Public School Srinagar Monday organised the Snow Ski Course 2025 at Gulmarg in tandem with the Winter Games Association Jammu & Kashmir.
The event was held from 27th January to 10th February 2025 and it featured a 15-day Basic Course and an 8-day Introductory Course, conducted in two groups. A total of 35 students from grades 3rd to 9th participated in this event. The student team was accompanied by two sports teachers, Abriq and Nusrat, as well as two medical staff members, Abrar and Ishfaq, who provided expert guidance and support throughout the event, ensuring a safe and successful experience for the participants.

The felicitation ceremony was graced by Brigadier Deepak Chaubey (High Altitude Welfare School Gulmarg), Syed Eyad Qadri, KAS Tehsildar Tangmarg, Abbas Wani (Ex MLA, Chief Patron, Winter Games Association, J&K), Dr Samar Altaf, Kajal Chaubey, Dr. Neetu Sharma (Colonel) and Renu Bamrara (Assistant Director, IISM Gulmarg).

Skiing instructors Sandy Khakan Rigzin, Mohammad Abid Bhat and Tajinder Singh (Skiing Coordinator, Delhi Public School Srinagar) guided the participants throughout the event. The results of the first introductory course, which took place from 27th January to 3rd February were:

TECHNIQUE CATEGORY:
The first position went to Aaeesha Umar from 4th G; the second place was secured by Khalil Wani from 4th A, and the third place was taken by Sheikh Mohammad Hamza from 3rd H.

SLALOM RACE:
Saira Khawar from 5th B achieved first place, Ahmad Shafat from 4th B came in second, and Ibrahim Wani from 3rd I finished third.

The second introductory course, held from 3rd to 10th February 2025, featured the following results:

TECHNIQUE CATEGORY:
First place was awarded to Hisham Hussaini from 3rd F, Aleeza Bhat from 4th E secured second, and Mohammad Ziyan Kachkar from 4th C secured the third.

SLALOM RACE:
Hafsa Nissar from 4th E claimed first place, while Mohammad Zain Khan from 4th D took second place, and Sheikh Ahmad Saad from 4th A secured the third. The basic course that ran from 27 January to 10 February 2025 featured the following results:

TECHNIQUE CATEGORY:
Zain Bin Khalid from 6th C secured first place, Syed Shahaam Murtaza from 6th E took second, and Abdul Azeem Adnan from 6th E came third.

SLALOM RACE:
Sheikh Mohammad Ibrahim from 6th A came first, Mohammad Siddiq from 6th G achieved second place, and Saira Khawar from 5th B finished third.

Delhi Public School Srinagar and the Winter Games Association congratulated all the participants and winners for their outstanding achievements. Mr. Vijay Dhar, the Chairman of the school said, “I am proud of our young skiers for demonstrating exceptional talent, dedication, and perseverance on the slopes. Your passion, teamwork, and sportsmanship inspire us all. Keep challenging the limits and striving for excellence!”. Ms. Shafaq Afshan, the Principal of Delhi Public School, Srinagar, congratulated the winners and said, “The young skiers’ dedication and stamina will pave the way for their long-term success.”
