Banihal, Feb 01: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen on Saturday handed over appointment orders to newly recruited Anganwadi Workers and Helpers in Banihal under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.
This initiative aims to strengthen early childhood care, nutrition, and maternal health services in the region, the MLA’s office said in a statement issued here.
Speaking at the event, MLA Shaheen emphasised the crucial role of Anganwadi workers in child welfare and women’s empowerment. He reiterated the government’s commitment under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to fulfilling its election promises, particularly in health, education, and social welfare. He also appreciated the efforts of the Minister for Health, Medical Education, Education and Social Welfare in enhancing welfare programs and service delivery.
The MLA assured continued efforts to improve ICDS (Poshan) infrastructure, worker honorariums and timely resource allocation. He encouraged the newly appointed workers to serve with dedication for the betterment of the community.
The event was attended by District Programme Officer Poshan Jahangir Hashmi, local officials, ICDS representatives, and community members, who welcomed the initiative as a positive step toward grassroots development.
