Conclusions of 4th Snow Skiing course conducted by IISM Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Feb 13:  The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg successfully concluded its 4th Snow Skiing Course. The course aimed to provide participants with comprehensive training in snow skiing techniques and safety.
The course, which spanned 14 days, witnessed the participation of 83 enthusiastic individuals from various backgrounds. Under the guidance of experienced instructors and trainers, the participants underwent rigorous training sessions that covered both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The Commandant of High-Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg Maj General Bruce Fernandez, was the esteemed chief guest at the closing Ceremony of the 4th Snow skiing Course on 12th Feb 2024.  Maj General Bruce Fernandez’s presence added prestige and significance to the program, motivating the students to excel in their skiing skills and embrace the values of friendship and unity.
During his speech, Maj General Bruce Fernandez emphasized the importance of adventure education and referred to the snow skiing students as the ambassadors of India. According to Maj General Bruce Fernandez, the snow skiing adventure program provided an opportunity for the students to learn valuable life skills, including friendship and the ability to create lasting memories.
Maj General Bruce Fernandez, congratulated and honored the winners of skiing events at the graduation ceremony.  He extended his best wishes to the winners for their future endeavors.
Throughout the course, participants learned essential skiing techniques, including proper body positioning, balance, turning, and stopping. They also received training on safety measures, avalanche awareness, and rescue techniques, ensuring their preparedness for any unforeseen circumstances in snow-covered terrains.
The participants showcased remarkable progress and dedication throughout the course, with many mastering the basic skiing skills and gaining confidence on the slopes. The IISM instructors provided individual attention and personalized guidance to ensure the participants’ growth and improvement.
The successful conclusion of the 3rd Snow Skiing Course marks a significant milestone for the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering. The institute remains committed to promoting winter sports and adventure activities, while also encouraging local employment through these activities.
The IISM extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment.
The institute also expresses gratitude to the instructors, trainers, and support staff for their tireless efforts in making the course a resounding success.
