MCC Home-Shalibugh Clinches Title in Grand Cricket Tournament Final at Yaripora, Kulgam

Kulgam, Jul 31: The grand and prestigious cricket tournament organized under the auspices of Yaripora Cricket Forum culminated with an enthralling final match at BHSS Yaripora. MCC Home-Shalibug emerged victorious, claiming the title in a thrilling encounter.

 

The tournament witnessed active participation from 32 teams hailing from Kulgam and Shopian, who showcased their cricketing prowess based on knockout rounds. The final match, held today, featured MCC Hom Shali Bug and Dolphin Cricket Club Yaripora, capturing the excitement of the enthusiastic crowd.

 

Opting to bat first, Yari Pora set a target of 126 runs for MCC Hom Shali Bug. Undeterred, the latter chased down the target with ease, securing the title with a remarkable performance. Dr. Younus showcased his brilliance with a splendid innings of 50 runs and also claimed three crucial wickets, adding to MCC’s triumph.

 

Throughout the tournament, stellar performances earned accolades, with Dr. Younus being recognized as the Man of the Match in the final as well as the Player of the Tournament.

 

Mushtaq Ahmed Pampora, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) of Kulgam, graciously distributed prizes to the players.

 

The valedictory ceremony witnessed officials from DYSS, including Mohammad Akbar (Member of Publicity Wing, DYSSO Kulgam); Gowhar Ahmad (Senior Lecturer, Economics), and Javaid Ahmed Lone, a well known cricketer. The officer and officials presented trophies to the runners-up and winners, adding to the jubilation of the moment.

 

DYSSO Kulgam said the significance of maintaining good health and well-being through sports activities is the positive while indulging in sports activities.

 

“We urge players and youth to stay away from social evils and drugs. We express our gratitude to Yaripora Cricket Forum for their efforts in organizing the event and lauded the contributions of Chief Supervisor Raja Javed Ahmed Khan, Younus Ahmed Malik (Vice-World), and Sahil Hussain Khan,” he said.
